I have a very old album by Mayfair Records: Steve Allen Presents Carole Simpson...Swingin' and Singin'. This is a wonderful album...better than the one for sale online. If anybody has information on how I can get this on CD, I would really, really appreciate it...am I the only owner of this album?? It's yellow - not black, and has 12 sultry jazz songs including: What Kind of Fool, Baby, And Now Goodbye, This Could Be The Start of Something Big... |

This sounds like a very rare album, Vanessa. All Music Guide says it was released in 1960 on the Tops label. I don't think you'll find it on CD. It would be possible to transfer it with a turntable and amp connected to a computer or CD recorder. Maybe you can ask around in you area for someone with the required equipment and skill. Carole Simpson is a great mystery. I don't even know her dates or if she's still alive. If anyone knows or knew Carol Simpson, please give us some biographical details. |

Hi, My name is Ruthie and I am a cousin of Carole Simpson. Yes, she and her husband are still alive and live in California. Carole is the music director at her church. |

Thanks very much for that news, Ruthie. Would Carole be willing to give us some information about her days as a jazz performer and recording artist? Many people still enjoy the small number of her recordings that are available. |

I know Carole Simpson. I just spoke with her. Her LP was converted to CD and was re-released last year (2009). Correction: Carole Simpson is the Assistant Musical Director at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Howlett Smith (a supreme jazz great) is the Musical Director. Carole still has incredible piano skills, appears locally a few times a year and her wit is sharp as a tack! |

Mellie, that is wonderful news! I don't see it on itunes. How can I get a copy of that re-release? If you speak to her again, please let her know that she still has fans out there! I'll also look her up at St. Paul's. |
