Hello everyone,

I am searching for a long time for a version of "Put the Blame on Mame" that JO ANN GREER sang in the fifties. I am trying desesperately to find the information's about this record, I don't know which orchestra was in this record but I have a feeling that maybe Les Brown or Ray Anthony was there. Any information's will be welcome.

Best regards.

Daniel.

The recording by Jo Ann Greer of Put the Blame on Mame was released (or reissued anyway) on an lp or cassette I got back in the early 80's called Morris Stolloff in Hollywood or Morris Stolloff Conducts songs from his movies. Something like that.

Anyway, it had her version of Put the Blame on Mame and My Funny Valentine. It also had Mr. Stolloff's recording of the Theme from Picnic/Moonglow. I also remember that there were two songs by Jack Lemmon and June Allyson from "You Can't Run Away From It". Unfortunately the tape was lost/destroyed. I have been hoping they would reissue it on CD.

Hope this helps.

Dirk, thank you very much for the information's. Unfortunately Morris Stoloff recorded a new version of "Put the blame on Mame" in 1959 with Anita Ellis not Jo Ann Greer; title of this long-playing and/or cassette is : SOUNDTRACKS,VOICES AND THEMES FROM GREAT MOVIES by Morris Stoloff.

Best regards.

Dirk,

Many thanks for the information's. The LP arrived yesterday from the States and it includes the version that I was looking for. The information's on the back cover doesn't mention who sings that song, I still have my doubts about it but it must be Anita Ellis or Jo Ann Greer. Thanks again for your help, I was searching for this version of "Put the Blame on Mame" since 1979, about 27 years !

Best regards.

Daniel.

I am 99.99999% certain that it is Jo Ann Greer and not Anita Ellis. The cassette version I had listed Anita Ellis but it really sounds like Jo Ann Greer. Also, Jo Ann had been dubbing for Rita during the fifties and Morris Stolloff probably worked with her more during that period.

Anita Ellis did record another version of the song in 1959 and it is on her cd World in My Arms, available through Collectibles records.

I sent an e-mail to DRG requesting that they reissue the album on CD. Hope they listen.

Does anyone know who did the arrangement of That Certain Feeling that is available on Rhapsody? I'm guessing Billy May. Really terrific!
