A very enjoyable show, Cheryl Bentyne was a revelation, I'd never paid much attention to Manhattan Transfer before, I'll have to get some of their work. It was good to hear a Sammy Davis Jr track, he's hardly heard on the radio these days but I think he was one of the very best.

Irving Caesar's story about the writing of Swanee (a "onestep") was interesting. I remember Benny Green saying about this, "a onestep, whatever that is". Well, it's a bit late for Benny, but for anyone who's interested, here's the answer.

I didn't like We're Gonna Change the World, by Ian Shaw, too mannered for my taste. The Pine Top Smith story was very sad. Here's a brief biography and his short discography.
